Picture This are an Irish pop rock musical band based in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, comprising Ryan Hennessy, Jimmy Rainsford, Owen Cardiff and Cliff Deane. In early 2019, they released their second album MDRN LV through Universal Records.

Athy band Picture This rose without trace with their self-titled 2017 debut album. It sold 45,000 copies in Ireland on the back of its largely acoustic singer song-writerly charm and cornball but heartfelt lyrics. Since then they’ve sold out five nights in the 3Arena and last Wednesday, they launched this second album with a gig in the Empire State Building.

To put it into context for you, U2 sold out four nights at 3Arena, and we sold out five nights,” Hennessy said in a phone call from New York, where the band spent a week leading up to the release of the Picture This sophomore record, MDRN LV. “It’s never been done before. It’s unprecedented". - Ryan Hennessy

Thematically, MDRN LV is a big picture look at the subject matter. The track list is a collection of stories about the many ways in which love can lead in one’s early twenties. A good chunk of them are outwardly depressing or describe awkward scenarios that should doom the relationship they describe.

Overall, a great album from an increasingly-popular Irish band, hell-bent on world domination. - Roman Gokhman.
